sleep training

I am a researcher. Allison always accuses me of making every purchase way too intense because I have to research everything before I buy it. I read Consumer Reports magazine. I scour the internet for reviews. I compare different products to make sure I'm not only getting the best thing, but also the best priced thing.
It was no surprise, then, when I heard about the pregnancy and I began reading books, blogs, and bulletins about raising children. One of the books I read was Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child, by Dr. Marc Weissbluth. Now that Louie is 4.5 months old I have read Healthy Sleep Habits Happy Child approximately 6.5 times--twice before she was born, then again once a month since her birth.
Now that we've been following this method for several months, our efforts are paying off! Louie goes to sleep between 6-7 everyday and wakes up at 7:30 every morning. Normally she wakes twice for feedings, but as soon as the bottle empties, she rolls over on her side, closes her eyes, and falls asleep. Yay for a well rested family!

Earlier this week Alli and I were playing our new PS3 and Louie was in her bouncer. I noticed she was no longer squawking, so I looked over to see her asleep. Too cute!

Mr longbeard

For those who don't know, BYU-Idaho has a strict shaving and dress policy. The policy is strict enough that I will often get stopped and told to shave even on days I do shave--at least I did until I got my new razor: another post for another day. So when summer break rolls along, funny things happen: hair grows long, shorts get worn, and beards sprout outward.
I shaved the second to last day of school--July 14th--and didn't shave again until I first day of classes this semester--Sept. 12th. After almost two months I had a pretty thick mane on my face. I can't say that it was totally my idea. Probably once a week I told Allison I was going to shave it, but she insisted I keep it growing.

365 Days of Louie

The most beautiful girl in the world gets an upgrade

Allison decided that it was time to update her look while in Washington. It started with a haircut. Then a makeup consultation at Nordstroms. Then a hair coloring.
I had scheduled Allison to get her hair done at Jax salon by my cousin, Austin. What I neglected to do was also schedule her coloring (sorry!). Allison had plans to go a very vibrant red (maybe even putting streaks of very light blue throughout). She got the idea here (No, that's not Allison on the red carpet, that's Liz Lee from My Life As Liz). She did eventually get her hair dyed a stunning auburn, but these pictures were taken before she had that done.
If getting hairs did wasn't enough, she decided to schedule a makeup consultation at the Bobbi Brown exhibit. She apparently had tons of fun with the consultant and now looks like a new woman.
I am so lucky to have a stunning wife.

A New Car?

We Spent all last week in Washington with the Call parentals. We had so much fun that we will have at least a few days' worth of blog posts. For our first post we wanted to brag about the new car we picked up in Hilltop. This was the first of many gifts and treats we were given while visiting.
Okay, this isn't really our new car, but we would trade our sturd for this car anyday. We parked next to this car at the Supermall and couldn't resist snapping a quick picture. So if you see us riding around in this in a few years, you'll know where we first saw it.
